The Story of our Logo

This journey began from an experience. For several years, we struggled to find information and spiritual teachers that resonated. However, after many detours and lessons, we met a diverse group of teachers and friends. With our varied backgrounds and paths, we decided to create a center, focusing on various learning and healing modalities. All in the hope that we create a place for people to learn and explore different ways to get to know and better themselves.

Once we began solidifying the idea of starting a non-project we realized we also needed a for profit to work hand-in-hand. It was when those two companies came together that our logo did too.

The Hui Mālamalama logo is circular in nature, representing the never ending love and knowledge that exists within us all. The inclusivity of several different design points within the circle, represents the many different meditation and spiritual modalities. The varied size, shape and orientation of these points with circle show us that there is not one correct way or path. Instead showing that, while different, they can all exist together, beautifully. This also mirrors the diversity in the people, landscape and climate of Hawaiʻi, co-existing and intermingling to create the beauty we see today.

Lastly, the yellow, orange and red hues selected represent the glow of the sun as well the solar plexus, sacral and root chakras. Together they work to keep us grounded but always reaching for the sun.

The logo for Hui Mālamalama was created by one of our founders tattoo artist, Lauren. As we continue to grow and expand, our logo will too. The for profit side, Hale O Hoʻomālamalama, logo will seamlessly integrate with Hui Mālamalamaʻs logo. Hale O Hoʻomālamalamaʻs logo will be representative of a mountain range. A symbol of guidance, strength and humility. Another reminder that, in order to grow we must never lose our connection to the earth and to ourselves.
